Mike Francesa Takes Unnecessary Shot at the Mets
By Mike Silva ~ January 5th, 2012. Filed under: Sports Media Commentary.
What about a reunion with Russo, now the afternoon host on Sirius XM Satellite Radio? “I would say there’s a better chance that the Mets win the pennant,” Francesa said. - Mike Francesa to Newsday Neil Best regarding the end of his contract in 2014
There are tons of nuggets in Best’s column about Francesa’s potential retirement in 2014. Best says possible candidates to replace Mike are Chris Carlin and Kim Jones, Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts, and Gregg Giannotti who is currently at 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.
The shot at the Mets aside, who do you think should take over? I give my take at Sports Media Watchdog including a poll where you can voice your opinion.
Here is hoping the Mets win a pennant this year and force Francesa to eat his words.

Why don’t you throw your hat in the ring, Mike?

It’s not so silly. The fact is that bloggers are the more interesting to me than anything on the radio.

I actually don’t mind Francesca’s shots at the Mets - it’s to be expected - it’s part of his schtick.
Just like Artie Lange calling Mets fans “fags” - that always cracked me up.
