Law: Holt a Reliever

By Mike Silva ~ October 23rd, 2009. Filed under: Mets Minors.

Keith Law mentioned a few Mets prospects during his chat yesterday. The one question that stood out was from a New York fan who asked whether Brad Holt was a starter or reliever. Law said, without hesitation, that Holt is a reliever because he is a one pitch guy. Sounds an awful lot like Bobby Parnell. Anyway, could Holt possibly be a bullpen solution next season? Adam Rubin already has brought up the possibility that Jenrry Mejia, who Law believes is two years away, could come out of the 2010 bullpen. Personally, if Holt projects more as a reliever he would be the one I would push for in the big league bullpen. Why stunt the development of Mejia who is probably the one Mets pitching prospect with a realistic chance of blossoming into a top of the rotation starter.
