Putz Trouble Brewing?
By Mike Silva ~ December 11th, 2008. Filed under: Mike Silva.
An All-Star in 2007 when he saved 40 games, Putz was 6-5 with a 3.88 ERA and 15 saves in 23 chances last season, when he missed long stretches with ribcage and elbow injuries. His agent, Craig Landis, said Putz wants to remain a closer.
“He’s one of the top five or 10 closers in the game,” Landis said. “No, he would not want to be a set-up man.”
I am sure this will be brought up by the local beat guys. Putz really has no choice since he is under the Mets control till the end of 2010. I wonder what the motivation is behind Landis bringing this up just after the trade? I would think it was addressed before the deal was finalized.

Who did the Mets lose? I heard 6 players. Reliever Aaron Heilman, outfielder Endy Chavez, lefty Jason Vargas, and reliever Joe Smith. Who are the other 2???

Putz said he’s excited to come to the Mets, and Minaya spoke to him and he’s fine setting up Krod
