The Mets and Koji Uehara

More news about possible Mets far east exports was reported by NPB Tracker. According to Hochi Sports, Omar Minaya was quoted as saying he’s basically thinking of Koji Uehara as a starter, and will negotiate with him as such. The Red Sox are also interested in Uehara. During his Japanese career, Uehara has been a starter and closer. Whether your talking about Uehara as a starter, or Takahashi as a lefty specialist, I really don’t know how to translate this into US baseball. It just seems that every team finds useful players from Japan except the Mets. Their most successful find was Masato Yoshii and that was over 10 years ago!
