K-Rod deal official

As reported in several media outlets, including ESPN, the deal between the New York Mets and free agent closer Franciso Rodriguez, is signed, sealed and delivered. The deal is for the reported 3 years and $37 million, not that much different from the deal the Angels offered K-Rod last summer.
Now, GM Omar Minaya has gotten his team’s biggest need out of the way, and can concentrate on starting pitching and another reliever for the “bridge to K-Rod.”
It will be great to witness the continued rivalry between the two Rods – K and A. Francisco and Alex Rodriguez’ battles have gone back to 2003, when Alex was with Texas, but were intensified during the two Divisional Series between the Angels and Yankees in Arod’s tenure with the Yankees.
For information purposes – Alex is 1 for 14 with 9 strikeouts versus K-Rod in the regular season, with his only hit a run scoring double. Alex is 0 for 2 with a GIDP in the playoffs.
It is much better now that we in New York get to see the rivalry during the 6 annual games between the Mets and Yankees – in prime time with no West Coast late nights.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the deal has a 4th year vested option and would raise the deal to $51 Million!
