Hoffman and Fuentes?

Tim Brown at Yahoo Sports reports the Mets have kicked around the idea of signing both Trevor Hoffman and Brian Fuentes. This two-headed closer tandem is unlikely because it would be a “hard sell” to move either to the eighth inning.
I believe Hoffman should only be a last resort. He has slowed down considerably, has trouble getting out left handed batters, and has a bad history in big games. None of those traits is what the Mets bullpen needs. The deeper we get into the hot stove the more I prefer rolling the dice with K-Rod. His delivery is a concern, but you would be investing in the second best closer (behind Rivera) in the game today. I still think a Huston Street/K-Rod tandem is the direction the Mets should go.
Not sure who Brown’s source is, but this sounds like an idea that was thrown out there and never really taken seriously.
