Ex Met Dykstra Still Playing “All Out”

I am sure by now Mets fans know about the exploits of Lenny Dykstra since he retired from baseball. Regardless, today’ article in the NY Post, gives you an idea of just how much of a high roller “Nails” is in the business world. When your making millions, like Dykstra, two lawsuits for under $200,000 is not worth losing sleep over. Legal proceedings become part of the “cost of doing business” when you play in that world.
What is amazing is how successful Dykstra has become. He launches a magazine, The Players Club, which loses 500,000 a month and calls it “giving back”. He is also on the verge of launching the first Rolls Royce branded jets. This luxury will only set someone back $60 million. You can tell that Dykstra is playing as hard in the business arena as he did on the ball field. When you are at this level, you sometimes “crash into a wall” and put your career in jeopardy. There is no signs that Dykstra is on the verge of that, but his carefree approach makes you wonder how long this “fast-wheeling” lifestyle will remain solvent.
Give the man credit. If I gave you copy of the Mets 1986 playoff roster and said: “pick the man that will build a business conglomerate”, how many would have said Dyktra? He has come a long way from the “play me or trade me” Lenny that spit tobacco. Although, he brings you back to his roots at the end of the article by pointing out a hunched over elderly women and saying: “See that? I’m going to be walking like that. I crashed into too many walls”. Good luck Lenny.
