Francesa Criticism of Heyman Off Base

By Mike Silva ~ November 24th, 2008. Filed under: Sports Media Commentary.

Just when I started to warm up to Mike Francesa he goes and sticks his foot in his mouth again. Neil Best reports about a conversation between Francesa and daily caller Mike from Montclair. According to Best, Francesa agreed with Montclair’s gripe that Jon Heyman is too long winded and doesn’t allow for follow up questions. Well excuse me! Francesa is very long winded and rarely allows dissenting opinion to be heard.

Jon Heyman is a credible, national, baseball writer that actually has real and factual information. Francesa doesn’t scoop any news, shows bias in his analysis, and rarely brings anything to the dialogue with Heyman. Every segment is centered on what players Mike wants to talk about, not what is actual news.

To criticize Heyman like this is the “pot calling the kettle black”. If Francesa wants a better performance out of his Heyman segments, he should look in the mirror. As for Mike from Montclair, instead of calling up Francesa and “playing radio” put yourself out there and broker time at a station, or do your own internet podcast. I much rather listen to a long winded Jon Heyman then a irrelavent caller from Montclair, New Jersey.
