Determining Yankees 40 Man Roster
By Mike Silva ~ November 19th, 2008. Filed under: Yanks Minors.
Chad Jennings over at the SWB Yankees blog discusses the teams forty man roster. As of today it currently has three openings. Those openings could go quickly with the offers to starting pitchers but, Chad gives names to players that might be worth placing on the forty man. Remember, any player not on the roster is eligible for the Rule V draft. Normally teams aren’t’ able to keep them all season and ultimately send the player back to their original owner, however there are exceptions. Back in 2007 the Washington Nationals plucked Jesus Flores from the Mets. He spent the entire season riding the pines in DC and now is their starting catcher. Below are some names that Chad considers for protection. You just never know who the next “Jesus Flores” can be.
Pitchers: Anthony Claggett, J.B. Cox, Michael Dunn, Chris Garcia, Alan Horne, Steven Jackson, Jason Jones, Zach Kroenke, Kevin Whelan
Catchers: Kyle Anson, P.J. Pilittere
Infielders: Reegie Corona, Chris Malec, Eduardo Nunez, Ramiro Pena
Outfielders: None
