Chad Bradford in the House

Not quite, but read this via Newsday’s David Lennon:
Sean Green approaching Chad Bradford territory with low sidearm delivery. Not quite scraping ground, but close. Looked good with it though.
If my memory serves me correctly Green started messing with this delivery last September. I thought of Bradford right away when I saw it. Green was suppose to be the “sleeper” in the J.J Putz deal, right now he may be all the Mets can hope for in terms of value. The early part of 2009 he was “kerosene on the fire” with an ERA over eight. When you peel away the statistical orange he was a bit better than his 4.52 ERA. If you take out Green’s April line his ERA is around 3.66. In September, when he started using the Bradford delivery, opponents hit .152 against him, although his control was a bit off.
The key to Green is utilization. Left handed hitters have an OPS over .800 for their career against him. Jerry Manuel failed to realize situational splits with Green, just as he did with Scott Schoeneweis and Joe Smith. Hopefully Manuel recognizes this and Green’s new delivery produces more of the results we saw later in the year. In 2006, Bradford was arguably one of the most important members of the bullpen as he was able to bridge the sixth inning for a team that lacked length from its starting rotation. Green may need to play that role with this year’s edition as John Maine, Oliver Perez, and a possible fifth starter may be unable to give more than five to six innings per start.
