Hamels: 6 innings and 103 Pitches

Our very own Joe DelGrippo reported back on September 4th some information about Cole Hamels. Apparently he is concerned about pitch count because he has yet to receive a long term deal from the Phillies.
The Phils bullpen has been outstanding this season but, much like most teams, overworked. You would think your ace could give you at least seven innings (i.e. Santana). This is worth watching as we head down the stretch into the post-season. Hamels did not pitch well that Sunday against the Mets. He has been spotty at times this year. You could argue that their rejuvenated ace, Brett Myers, is really the one to anchor this rotation.
This weekend the division could be decided. A bad weekend by either team could swing the division into their favor as we head into the final week. Its imperative for the Mets to play well in Atlanta, because Florida might be the only team left to give the Phils some competition.
