Learning From History Tonight @7pm

By Mike Silva ~ December 23rd, 2009. Filed under: Radio Show.

The theme for the last radio show of 2009 is “learning from history”

I will kick off the show and talk about the newly reacquired Javier Vazquez. NYBD contributor Frank Russo will call in to give his take on the deal, what it means for Joba/Hughes, and the message the Yankees might be sending to Robinson Cano. Hear a hot stove update on some possible leftfield solutions.

Former Mets GM Al Harazin will stroll down memory lane. He was in charge of the Mets from 1991-1993 and was responsible for his own spending spree during the winter of 91′. He will tell us why he chose to pick the 91′ free agent class to make a “splash”, the toughest negotiations he had, and why the Mets chose to trade David Cone.

Finally, Mike Lynch of Seamheads talks about his book “It Ain’t So: A Might Have Been History of the White Sox 1919 and Beyond.”

Mike used a simulator to replay “what might have happened” if the Black Sox scandal never occurred. He will tell me how this impacted the Yankees dynasty and we will chat about some of the key figures. Hear us remember Charles Comiskey, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and Kenesaw Mountain Landis.
