Yankees 2010 Lineup As of Today
By Mike Silva ~ December 18th, 2009. Filed under: Mike Silva.
There was some talk about where newly acquired Nick Johnson would hit in the Yankees lineup. I throw out some of my thoughts. Here is what I have as of today:
Jeter
Johnson
Teixeira
A-Rod
Posada
Cano
Granderson
Swisher
Cabrera
I probably would flip/flop Granderson and Swisher against left handed pitching because of the lefty/righty splits of both.
The Yankees still need to acquire some sort of right handed bat (Nady? Reed Johnson?) to balance their lineup against LHP. Perhaps Jamie Hoffmann can play that role.
This is a lineup that a majority of teams in the league would want, but you could argue that it’s a step down from 2009 without Damon. If you have any regression from Swisher and Cano you may have some problems scoring runs. I didn’t even get into the days when Posada needs rest. With the question marks in their starting rotation, and to a lesser extent, the bullpen there is a small reason for concern on December 18th.
Of course, more moves are going to be made, especially for the bench so maybe this is an overreaction on a cold winter day. It’s still fun to talk about – what are your thoughts?

Your line up is all wrong. Nice try though. Lets try Jeter leading off at ss. Johnson 2nd at DH, followed by Tex and A-Rod 3-4, Curtis Granderson will hit fifth and play LF. Cano will bat sixth followed by Swisher, Posada and finally, BRETT GARDENER batting 9th and playing CENTERFIELD.

Interesting lineup Kevin. But, I thought Joe Girardi was the manager. Did he get fired and nobody knows it ?
