AJ to Cash….Get Doc!

For the last two weeks, I’ve been reporting about how A.J. Burnett has been quietly, behind the scenes, lobbying Brian Cashman to trade for his friend and mentor, Roy Halladay.
According to our main Yankees source down in Tampa, A.J. has now enlisted the services of several of his team mates, including C.C. Sabathia, to help him convince Yankees management to pull the trigger on a trade for the former Cy Young winner. “He’s been pretty quiet about until now,” our source told us. “He’s pushing Brian really hard to make the trade and he’s been texting away and making phone calls to anyone who will listen, including Hal and Hank.” He thinks that “Doc” is a perfect fit for the team and for the city.”
So will Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner listen to their pitcher and go hard after Halladay? One can only speculate at this point. Cashman well knows that to acquire a talent such as Halladay, he will have to give up quality talent in return. Personally, I’m still not sure he’s willing to do this.
It is my belief that Cashman should do whatever it takes to acquire Roy Halladay, and in so doing, keep him from going to the hate filled enclave known as the RSN, even if it means including either Joba or Phil Hughes in a trade.
