During the first half hour I spoke with Butch Wynegar the hitting coach for the Scranton Yankees. We talked about his 77′ rookie campaign where he finished runner up to Mark Fidrych for rookie of the year, catching Dave Righetti’s no hitter, Phil Niekro’s 300th game, and playing outdoors in Minnesota. Butch also gave us a run down about Yankees prospects Kevin Russo, Ramiro Pena, Austin Jackson, and Juan Miranda.
NYBD contributor and MILB.com writer Jed Weisberger joined me in the backhalf to discuss his recent Top 50 Yankees Prospect List. Jed gave us insight as to why he left certain players off, the development of the Top 10, who may be closest to the Bronx, and sleeper picks for next year. We also discussed the Carl Crawford situation and subsequent outcry about whether he is, or is not, on the trading block. Jed’s answer is very interesting.
