Mex Likely to Return to SNY in 2010

Good news from Bob Raissman of the Daily News
The broadcasting hot stove came to mind while watching SportsNet New York’s Mets log burner this past week.
Like what’s going on with Keith Hernandez’s new SNY deal? It looks like progress is being made toward guaranteeing Mex’s return to the Mets booth in 2010.
Glad to hear that it appears Mex will return for another season in 2010. If it’s a one year deal Keith may become the Rickey Henderson of broadcasters after he publically negotiated the last day of the season. In October I took SNY to task warning them about breaking up the Gary, Keith, and Ron trio.
Raissman also discusses the future of former Mets GM Steve Phillips. Apparently he is still in rehab and, although many in the industry think he has committed career suicide, there are networks willing to take the risk. What about the MLB network or SNY? It would be entertaining to hear Phillips analyze his former team since he has been notoriously anti Mets during his tenure at ESPN. Phillips agent declined to disclose what networks were interested in his services.

Keep Phillips as far away from SNY as possible.
