Rx: Become a Yankees Fan

Apparently there are a number of fans in Philadelphia still blue days after the Yankees beat the Phillies in the World Series.

The Yankees crushed the dreams of Phillies fans last night, triggering foul-mouthed rants, bouts of depression – and, of course, the downing of many gallons of beer. (Source NY Daily News)

NYDN staff writer Simone Weichselbaum asked some noted sports psychologists how fans of the losing team can cope with the disappointment. Answers included exercise, spending time with family and friends, or simply dealing with the loss.

One of the most creative answers came from our friend Dr. John F. Murray who encouraged depressed fans to stay away from alcohol and instead become a Yankees fan.

I am not sure that will sit well with Philadelphians or the Mets fans that are on the outside looking in at the Yankees celebration. If you remember Dr. Murray appeared on NYBD Radio earlier in the year to talk about sports psychology.
