Hinske and Matsui on NPB Radar?

Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker reports about the Softbank Hawks having interest in signing Yankees PH Eric Hinske.
If Thursday game went into extra innings I believe Joe Girardi would have regretted not have Hinske on the bench. I still don’t quite understand the need for two PR’s. Brett Gardner is good enough and, unlike Freddy Guzman, he actually can swing the bat.
He also mentioned that Hanshin and Yomiuri have interest in Hideki Matsui. Newman correctly speculates that this was earlier in the year, when Matsui was struggling, and he should have no problem obtaining a deal to stay in the States.
