And the Most Clutch Member of the Yanks is…

Johnny Damon. According to the “Clutch” stat at Fangraphs.
Does anyone know how this is calculated? As I have mentioned before I only dabble with advanced statistical measurements. My research indicated that it’s
Win Probability Added/players Leverage Index-Win Probability Added/Leverage Index.
Seems that WPA and LI are subjective metrics created by an individual, but I will take each at face value. Fangraphs has Johnny Damon and Alex Rodriguez as the two regulars with significant Clutch results. Nick Swisher is next, but far behind. Ironically Cody Ransom has done well in a small sample size.
Robinson Cano, by the way, is the worst. I think Yankees fans wouldn’t argue with that. What’s surprising is that Derek Jeter is at the bottom of the team ranking as well. Traditional metrics have Jeter at a .898 OPS late & close.
I am always skeptical about modern analysis, but after watching the Yankees this year Johnny Damon certainly has a number of big hits. A-Rod quietly has produced as well. Any thoughts on the numbers and results?
