Yankees Postseason Roster

Ken Davidoff did a great job breaking down a possible Yankees postseason roster at his blog yesterday. Here was Davidoff’s suggestion:
Catchers (2): Jose Molina, Jorge Posada
Infielders (6): Robinson Cano, Jerry Hairston Jr., Derek Jeter, Ramiro Pena, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira
Outfielders (6): Melky Cabrera, Johnny Damon, Brett Gardner, Freddy Guzman, Eric Hinske, Nick Swisher
Designated Hitter (1): Hideki Matsui
Pitchers (10): Alfredo Aceves, A.J. Burnett, Phil Coke, Chad Gaudin, Phil Hughes, Damaso Marte, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, David Robertson, CC Sabathia
This was written before Jerry Hairston’s injury in yesterday’s game. Assuming he is healthy I have no problem with carrying both him and Pena. Not sure where Freddy Guzman would fit into the roster. Personally I would add Robertson (assuming he is healthy) and not worry about Guzman. Outside of Dave Roberts historic stolen base how often do you really need a pinch runner in the American League? Guzman is a complete dead bat and I think the Yankees will need more pitching even in the five game ALDS. If Hairston is hurt could Shelley Duncan take his place? You have Pena for the infield and Duncan could be a right handed bat and play some OF if necessary. Finally, notice that Davidoff keeps Joba off the roster. I am in agreement with many who say that if Joba doesn’t get a start don’t mess with him in the bullpen. Having him work in Tampa with Nardi Contreras, as Davidoff points out, is more important at this time. I trust Chad Gaudin and Alfredo Aceves with the long man role anyway. What do you think?
