MILB Update: Two Decisive Games Tonight

By Mike Silva ~ September 16th, 2009. Filed under: Yanks Minors.

Thought I would give a quick update on the remaining local affiliates that are in the MILB playoffs.

- Staten Island lost to Mahoning Valley 3-2 in 11 innings. Chun-Hsiu Chen hit a walk off homer for the scrappers. Jimmy Paredes and Deangelo Mack had two hits apiece for Staten Island. Tonight is the decisive third game in Mahoning Valley.

- The Tampa Yankees are also in a decisive Game 5 tonight on the road against Charlotte. The lost Game 4 last night 3-1.

- The Scranton Yankees opened the IL Championship series with a loss to Durham 4-1. They trail 1-0 in the best of five series. John Rodriguez was the lone offensive star with two hits, one a solo homerun. Romulo Sanchez (acquired for Eric Hacker earlier this year), struck out 8 in five innings. Jose Valdez threw two strong scoreless innings. Keep an eye on Valdez next year. He had some impressive stuff when I watched him in Trenton. You could read some of the details over at Chad Jennings SWB Yankees Blog.
