MILB Playoff Update

By Mike Silva ~ September 12th, 2009. Filed under: Mets Minors, Yanks Minors.

Wanted to take a moment to update those who haven’t been paying attention to the MILB playoffs for the local teams.

- The Brooklyn Cyclones were swept 2-0 to Mahoning Valley. Brooklyn had great pitching all year, including a no-hitter by Brandon Moore, but their offense left much to be desired.

- Tonight is a decisive Game 3 for the Staten Island Yankees as they take on the Lowell Spinners.

- Kei Igawa couldn’t complete the three game sweep over Gwinnett for the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees. Igawa gave up five runs in three innings during the 8-5 loss. Scranton leads 2-1 going into tonight. Zach McAllister makes the start for the Yankees. We will update you and keep you posted about his progress.

- The Tampa Yankees have advanced to the Florida State League Championship against Charlotte. Brandon Laird, Pat Venditte, and David Phelps played well in the two game sweep over Brevard County. Game One of the championship series was postponed last night due to rain. It’s a best of five series that will now start tonight at 7pm.
