Final Thoughts Before Big Series

The Mets are an hour away from starting their series against the Phillies. This will be the last time the two teams meet in 2008. You could argue that even if the Mets lose two games, they are still in good shape. Of course, a championship team would go out there this weekend and make a statement. They did just that in Milwaukee earlier in the week. I predict the Mets, if all three games are played, will take 2 of 3 from the Phils and send them packing four game back.
John Delcos, formerly of the Journal News, has a new blog called the NY Mets Report. He brings up two excellent points. First, the Mets should learn from last year and show they have killer instinct. He also thinks that the emergence of Mike Pelfrey might be the most important development of the season. Hard to argue that now that John Maine is out, and Pedro Martinez hurting.
Shea should be rocking, something that was missing last September. The Mets should show Philadelphia why the NL East should never have been theirs in the first place. Remember, it was the Mets losing, not the Phillies winning, that caused this rivalry.
