Source: Julio Lugo Will Be a Met

I just was informed by Joe Demayo that NYBD sources expect Julio Lugo to join the Mets once he clears waivers. If you remember, back in the offseason of 2006, Minaya was spurned by Lugo when he accepted the Red Sox 4 year contract offer. It was reported that Lugo felt he had a better chance of winning with Boston. It turns out that it was the right decision as he won a title with them in 07.

Obviously there is a chance a team could claim him on waivers or a trade gets works out. However, with another year and a half of big dollars (about $10 million) coming to him, I doubt that anyone will absorb that amount and get Boston off the hook.

Last year Julio’s brother, Rudy, pitched in the Mets system.

Kudos to Joe Demayo for another great job of reporting.

Source: Adam Rubin already posted this after last night’s game. Taking another person’s work and claiming it as your own is not reporting. You’re not reporters, you’re not part of the media.

I would beg to differ with you. Although we are not the mainstream media, we have tried to do our own independent reporting. Joe has a good track record the last year, even getting credit from Jon Heyman. I have been credentialed at both minor and major league stadiums throughout the last 2 years. Before you comment, you should do a bit more research on my work, the work of contributors, and the site.

Rubin reported he is working out, we looked into it, and get validation. Take it for what it’s worth. Adam does fine work, but I would never not cite something that was from another beat writer. The track record here show this
