Lenny Dykstra Files for Bankruptcy

ESPN is reporting, surprise, that Lenny Dykstra has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I don’t think anyone who watched Real Sports on HBO is taken aback by this news. Amazingly Dykstra has only $50,000 in assets and owes somewhere between $10 and $50 million dollars. As I have said before, Lenny played his business career like his baseball one: reckless and lived for today. I don’t think we have seen the last of Lenny. He, to quote Bernard Goldberg, is “always looking for the next deal”. He talked about buying and selling luxury jets during the HBO interview. Remember, Chapter 11 is not liquidation its reorganization so it’s possible Dykstra already is setting up the next phase of his life.
