Hughes, NL Schedule, Media Mention, Sweepstakes

- Great job by Joe Girardi with the bullpen last night. Phil Hughes got to show us his potential in relief with a dominating 7th inning. Phil Coke brought in to face Carlos Pena. I would nitpick that Girardi left him in against Zobrist and Dillon, two RHB’s, but it’s not like Coke is inept against the opposite side of the plate. Like I said, Hughes in a key role in the bullpen will mean the Yankees don’t have to shop for a big time reliever. Save your chips, stop with all this silly starting rotation rules, and use what you have.
- Joe Girardi doesn’t like an NL schedule? He is concerned about 9 straight games without a DH? How do the Mets do it for 150+ games? Besides isn’t this the league that can’t compete with the AL? Shouldn’t he be happy to play the “minor leagues” for over a week? I could understand since it’s not like ever managed in the NL. What a joke!
- The sports department at 1240 AM WGBB got a mention in the Daily News. Yours truly was also mentioned as well. Thought I would share.
- I wanted to share a contest that Oh Murph is running. Looks like SNY’s Julie Alexandria is the topic of the question. The winner gets 2 seats to the August 4th game versus the Cardinals. Oh, by the way, Julie had an interesting answer to the contest question in the comments section.
- Who should get to close tonight since Mariano is unavailable? I bet, since he only threw 11 pitches, he pitches in a 1 run game. Just my guess.
