By Phil Allard ~ May 2nd, 2009. Filed under: Phil Allard.
You can file this in the “What are they thinking?” folder, but the Yanks have signed Casey Fossum to a minor league contract. Fossum will start today for Scranton.
Chad Jennings reports the move on his blog. Fossum was DFAd by the Mets on Monday after giving up just 1 run in 4 innings. Omar said Casey was “just caught up in a numbers game.” Once the pride of the Boston farm system, Casey has not been able to put it together in the majors. Lifetime he is 40-53, with a 5.45 ERA, 83 ERA+.
Contract details are not yet available.
