My All Time New York Lineup

By Mike Silva ~ May 28th, 2010. Filed under: Mike Silva.

Now that MSG’s “The Lineup” is over we have a complete team. I wanted to have some fun as we kick off the holiday weekend and tell you where I would bat each in the lineup.

That is some lineup. What do you think? Would you make any changes?

Jackie Robinson 2B
Derek Jeter SS
Babe Ruth RF
Lou Gehrig 1B
Willie Mays CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Dave Winfield LF
Yogi Berra C

The only changes I would even consider would be Strawberry in LF (even though he played mostly RF) and/or Piazza at C, but I’m not fully convinced and don’t feel strongly about it…

Piazza I can see and could argue for his presence behind the plate. Although Yogi played his entire career in NY and Mike did not.

Straw’s career was great from 84-90, but he was a part time player during his Yankees tour and that is what hurts him when comparing to Winfield.
