Updates on Swisher Deal
By Joe DeMayo ~ November 13th, 2008. Filed under: Joe Demayo, Rumor Mill.
In a turn of events that I had not heard about in the past, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick the Yankees are going to acquire outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher from the White Sox in exchange for minor league pitcher Jeffrey Marquez. It is possible more will head to Chicago in addition, but as of now it just states Marquez. Swisher will be the Yankees primary first baseman likely in 2009. More on this trade as it develops.
Update: 4:00: It appears the Yankees will also be receiving AA reliever Kanekoa Texeira. Between High-A and Double-A this year Texeira posted a 6-3 record with a 1.33 ERA. He saved 21 games, threw 61 innings allowing 46 hits, walking 21 and striking out 20. A source tells NYBD that Wilson Betemit will be going to the White Sox with Marquez, and possibly another minor leaguer.
Update: 4:11: As I reported ten minutes ago, Ken Rosenthal of Foxsports.com just confirmed the notion that the White Sox will also receive Wilson Betemit and pitcher prospect Jhonny Nunez. Nunez was originally acquired from the Washington Nationals for Alberto Gonzalez.

Swisher had a tough year at the plate but he has that OBA that’s all the rage. Question is is Swisher a 1st base man or a centerfielder for the Highlanders and does this mean the White Sox are ready to deal off Dye and Jenks as well (helloooooo Omar) and my fanboy crush Pierzynski?
Has any checked if Miek Francesa has fainted from the news of this deal?
