MikeFrancesa.com: Jones vs. Benigno for Final Spot

According to sources given to Mike Francesa.com, Kim Jones very well could be the replacement for Chris Russo in the midday.
It appears the final decision will come down to Joe Benigno and Kim Jones. Mike prefers Joe B, while Mark Chernoff believes Jones would be the perfect fit.
I personally said a few weeks ago, that Joe B is the perfect compliment to Mike. My main concern is that Jones will defer to Mike, something that his ego doesn’t need more of. What Mike needs is someone that will light a “fire” under him. Benigno accomplished that during his tryout.
Regardless of who is picked one thing is for sure: Chernoff better have a conversation with Mike about getting his facts straight. His show has become even more factually wrong since the departure of Mad Dog. Furthermore, the personal vendettas (i.e. David Wright) need to stop.
It will be an interesting week at WFAN and YES as decisions have to be made about Kim Jones and syndication of Mike Francesa.

Jones with Francesa would be a disaster. He treats her like she’s his daughter and he finds it adorable that she’s interested in sports. Actually he does this with the women who call his show also. He’s overly nice to them to the point that I imagine it must be insulting.

Russo is probably one of the dumbest people alive; the show is at least listenable without him.
That said, I would go with Jones. Benigno and Mike know < 0 about baseball. Kim at least has an open mind.

While Jones is knowalgeable and has a good on air personality I think Joe B would bring some much needed life to the Mike’d Up show. So far we know that Mike as big as his ego is, can not carry a 5 hr show onhis own so a co host or sidekick is badly needed
