Having more fun with this graph stuff. I should have done this earlier but look at Citi Field production at Shea Stadium:

Key

Dark Blue: Homers

Orange: Fly Out

Light Blue: Double

Blue: Triple

Again, I believe you won’t see that much of a difference.

I only see two kinds of blue. Are the doubles and triples mixed?

They blew it with the color of 3B- hard to see with the other dots. But you can see all the dots thats go over the wall. Doesn’t appear that Citi robbed many homers that would have went out in Shea.

OK Mike, what this seems to prove is that the Mets once again fielded a below average team. While coincidence that both the Yankees and Phillies play in bandboxes, it’s ironic that every hitter on their teams seems to be a power threat and the teams have the ability to explode at any time with many runs unlike the Mets.

So it gets back to what we’ve been saying for years. Like the 86 Mets, the Yanks and Phils have been put together piece by piece to have a top quality team with depth everywhere. The Mets assembled a good core, but leave it to chance on who the other four regulars, backups, and starting pitchers 2-5 are.

Can you imagine if the Mets had a top notch #2 starter in 2006? Do you think they would have lost the playoffs?
