Audio of the Day: Ernie Harwell

Perhaps my favorite interview of all time is with Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell.
In July of 2007, Harwell launched his audio scrapbook to the public that included interviews and famous calls from his career.
What many fans know is that Ernie Harwell started his career in New York as a broadcaster for both the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants. He is the only broadcaster to be traded, yes traded, for a player as Branch Rickey sent catcher Cliff Dapper to the Atlanta Crackers for Harwell.
He was a part of some great moments in baseball history including Bobby Thomson’s “shot heard round the world”.
In addition to baseball he announced the Masters, pro, and college football.
I talked to Ernie Harwell about his long career as he shared his most vivid memories and was also kind enough to give advice to future broadcasters. To round out the interview I shared a brief clip from his audio scrapbook which you can purchase at eharwell.com
