Yanks Will Look For Veteran Option For Rotation

Contrary to published reports, the Yankees are not, I repeat, not satisfied with standing pat with the rotation as currently constructed, and will not rely solely on internal options to fill any voids.
We contacted our main Yankees source down in Tampa on Tuesday night, who reiterated that the team is “ready and willing to add a veteran presence to the rotation.”
One of the reasons the Yankees are looking to add a veteran starter is the status of Andy Pettitte. We were told that the left hander really wants to come back, but will once again talk the matter over with his wife Laura, (who wants him to retire) and the rest of his family. A decision will most likely not come until after the Christmas season.
As far as the status of Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui, there are internal discussions going on as to whether to resign the two free agents. There are some in the organization who want to cut ties with the two veterans and get younger, and others who believe that allowing the two popular stars to leave would be a public relations disaster.
Passing Thoughts
It appears that Jason Bay and his agent Joe Urbon are seeking Matt Holliday money this winter. A five year deal in the $100 million dollar range is apparently the current asking price.
It appears that the Red Sox are now one of the teams interested in San Diego’s Adrian Gonzalez. Boston also continues to show strong interest in Seattle’s Felix Hernandez, but would most surely have to break the bank if the Mariner’s ever decide to trade him, which at this point, remains highly unlikely.
