Yanks Looking to Go With Just 3 Starters

Jon Heyman is reporting at twitter that the Yankees will go with just 3 starters in the World Series: CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, and Andy Pettitte.

This means that Sabathia will pitch on short rest in a Game 4 and Game 7 (if necessary). Burnett will be on short rest for Game 5 (if necessary), and Andy Pettitte in Game 6 (if necessary). Since I doubt the Yankees will sweep the fate of the series will be on Burnett and Pettitte on just three days rest.

Not sure home comfortable I feel about Pettitte and A.J. on short rest against the Phillies, but at least all three will be on normal rest through the first three starts. Neither Burnett nor Pettitte have gone on short rest this season.

If this decision backfires it will be a huge indictment against Brian Cashman not acquiring a fourth starter. It also will be shame on Joba Chamberlain for his inability to take the ball and give the team 5 innings in a Game 4.
