Yanks & Mets AFL Update

By Mike Silva ~ October 22nd, 2009. Filed under: Mets Minors, Yanks Minors.

Obviously the postseason has made the Arizona Fall League talk non existent, but I was curious how both local teams prospects were doing for the Surprise Rafters going into tonight’s action:

Mets

Ike Davis – Hitting .423 with a homer and eight RBI’s. Davis has an OPS over 1.000 as he continues his fine offensive output in 2009. He has struggled against LHP going 1-7 so far.

Reese Havens – Has only played in one game and is 0-3

Ruben Tejeda- Currently hitting .318 with an OPS of .830.

Lucas Duda – 2 for 5 thus far.

Eric Niesen – the lefty has given up 8 runs in 3 innings. He posted an ERA well over 4 at Binghamton this season.

Scott Moviel- 4 scoreless innings with 3 walks and a strikeout

Jenrry Mejia – struggling so far giving up 6 runs in 3 innings over two starts. The control is way off with 6 walks and only 2 strikeouts

Josh Stinson – RHP Had a great year at St. Lucie, but has given up 4 runs in just under 4 innings so far.

Yankees

Ian Kennedy – Has a 4.91 ERA in 7 innings pitched with 8 strikeouts and has not walked a batter.

Michael Dunn – 2 scoreless innings with 3 walks and 2 K’s

Zach Kroenke – 1 run in 4 innings with a walk and 2 K’s. Yanks have to make a 40 man roster decision or lose him.

Grant Duff - three innings of scoreless ball with 3 walks and a K. Not talked about that much as he split time between Trenton and Tampa putting up an ERA of 3.52 and a shade under a strikeout per inning.

Austin Romine – .400 batting average in 15 at-bats

Brandon Laird- Currently putting up a .930 OPS with a homer and 8 RBI’s.

Colin Curtis – Most impressive hitter so far for the Bombers. Has 2 homers, 6 RBI’s and an OPS over 1.000
