Weekly Roundup Tonight @ 8pm

By Mike Silva ~ April 15th, 2012. Filed under: Radio Show.

Join me during the Yankees-Angels game for this week’s radio program at 8pm.

Mobile Blog Reader - powered by Notice Orange

We will kick off talking Yankees baseball. Is Mark Teixeira on the way out? What do the Yankees do with Phil Hughes? How do the Bombers look now that they have righted the ship after a 0-3 starter? Hear NYBD contributor Joe Delgrippo and Stevem Goldman of the Bleacher Report and YES Network give their take.

Former big league knuckleball pitcher Charlie Hough will join me later in the program. Hear about his involvement with a baseball documentary about the trick pitch and how you can get to meet him next weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Finally, Ozzie Guillen caused a stir with his comments about Fidel Castro and Rick Morrissey of the Chicago Sun-Times is here to talk about it. Who better to give us a perspective on the Miami manager than Morrissey, who covered him during his White Sox tenure and is coming out with a book called “Ozzie’s School of Management: Lessons from the Dugout, the Clubhouse and the Doghouse.”

Despite the following, I really do appreciate the work Mike Silva does. However. . ..

After billboarding Morosi(a good guest), who’ll speak on Ozzie Guillen, bringing on Joe Del Grippo(also good)— launching into 10 minutes of Marlins talk is lame. Especially after proclaiming his time is short. The “it’s my show” excuse is the same rationale dictators use. OK but do the NYY material & then, if time allows, get the local insight from him.

A major problem with a podcast is no PD to focus talent. I can’t say it’s not professional, because jock sniffer radio does it all the time, and much worse. ESPN clowns bring on a baseball reporter & start with asking the guy’s brackets. And everything to them is a football analogy. I come to NYBD for fresh takes on New York baseball. I know nothing exists in a vacuum, including sports. Except that is, for the space between most jocks & their sycophants ears.

During the MLB season & w/NY beat people, please do the NY talk first. Then, any other baseball, horseshoes or what they ate for lunch.
