Derek wants me to pass along that he’s very honored to receive this award, and as a thank you will be sending you a gift basket.

    Predictable response LOL

I personally would have voted for the Wilpons, but I think some people don’t realize the “Person of the Year” doesn’t necessarily have to be a positive event.

Mike, for the Wilpons to receive an award you’ll have to create a new category: Most Reviled People in NY award. They would’ve run away with the voting. Oh, wait, Mike Pelfrey would’ve been a close (85% Wilpon, 15% Pelfrey!) 2nd to the Wilpons.

Seriously though, even though I do not like the Yankees, Jeter deserves the award immensely. He’s a model of professionalism and integrity for the sport of baseball and witnessing his 3,000th hit in 2011 was one of my all time favorite experiences as a fan.

Now, maybe a NY Met will win the award in 2012. Perhaps Terry Collins for leading the team to more wins than anyone thought possible for 2012: 75! LOL

change the name of the award to the Most Overrated Athlete To Ever Compete in NYC and then you’d have a worthy recipient in Jeter

  5. Nik

This is a very ironic award…

Why do you say that, Nik?
