Francesa Knows the Secret to the Shake Shack Burger

By Mike Silva ~ April 20th, 2011. Filed under: Sports Media Commentary.

WFAN’s Mike Francesa aka “The Sports Pope” likes to remind everyone he is an expert on sports. A perfect example is the below video. Watch Mike rattle off statistics at a highly accurate rate:

He also likes to talk politics, history, and now he is a food critic!

Mike recently had a Shake Shack burger when attending a game, and believes the hamburger is nothing different, but the rolls they use are the key to its success.

The best part is the caller and Mike come to the conclusion that this “special roll” is a potato roll. Apparently you can only find them in Connecticut.

Best quote of the segment by Mike is when he says “the roll is the issue there, no question.” As you can see from the above video, accuracy is Mike’s forte.

Thank you Mike and WFAN for once again educating us on a higher level.

Francesa looks like he’s eaten a lot more than one burger, lol!

    Mike:

I said it over a year ago (and you can check the record) radio is dead. ESPN again goes with a retread in Lupica and does not give BT (Brandon Tierney a chance). I worked in this business for the first five years after college and I see my kids listening to Pandora and can tell you that there really is no talent on over the air radio (either ESPN or WFAN besides Evan Roberts). Oh yeah my Mets lost again and I can now tell you I am waiting for the Lance McCullers watch to begin!

I wrote about McCullers last year. Frank Russo knows a scout that watched him and liked him a lot.

He did win 14 in those years if not 15. Francesa’s point was still valid. There’s plenty of fodder out there for criticizing the sports pope without resorting to these little technicalities.

I think he creates that criticism by sitting in front of a computer, making blanket statements as if he knows, and being wildly inaccurate. I agree with the premise that Arroyo is a guy that is probably good for about 15 wins, its the laziness of a guy making $5 million dollars a year that is appalling.

Agreed…I’m no Mike F. fan and I generally love the way you hammer him. Just thought this one was a bit of piling on over a minor inaccuracy when his general point about Arroyo’s consistency over the past few years was valid.
