Dino Costa: Backman Will Be Mets Manager

The last three days Dino Costa of Mad Dog Radio has stated that he believes Wally Backman will be the next manager of the Mets. Costa said this information is coming from “impeccable sources.” I reached out to Costa tonight who told me he stands by his statements on the radio and does not believe reports of Bob Melvin getting the job are accurate.

Thursday night NYBD contributor Joe Demayo was told that Bob Melvin was in the lead and “likely” to be named the next Mets manager. This was due to Melvin’s knowledge of the Mets organization and his level of preparedness during the interview process.

Considering that I have been supporting a Backman candidacy for a couple of years I hope that Costa, and not NYBD, is right about who will be the next Mets manager.

Hopefully some news comes out tomorrow so we can move forward.
