Michael Kay Says Series is Over

By Mike Silva ~ October 16th, 2010. Filed under: 2010 Playoffs, New York Yankees.

Neil Keefe relayed this tweet of Michael Kay’s comments on the YES postgame after Game 1

Michael Kay on last night’s postgame: “I said it after Game 1 against the Twins and I’m saying it again … this series is over.”less than a minute ago via web

If the Yankees blow this series you know who to blame. What ever happened to fair and balanced Michael?

Exactly! Frank Russo’s contention that the MOST objective voice covering the Yanks is this blowhard pom-pom waving, feetie-pajama wearing, Torre-loathing stooge…is a farce. Sweenie Murti from FAN and to some degree Kimberly Jones are as close to fair as it gets around here. You can throw the whole rest of that media circus side show at YES/880 in the same clown car.

And btw, Francis, how well would you say Ron Darling is doing calling the ALCS while trying to conceal all his SNY Yankee hate?

Enjoy your off day pinstrokers…ooo the hate is fresh this mornin’!

    See ya, MRF 10.17

  2. Scott

Tell mr. Kay the series is far from over…moron

  3. MVP

I am a die-hard Yankees fan, but Michael Kay should lose his job for that STUPID comment – this team hasn’t exactly got the greatest staff ever assembled, and further, they played like crap down the stretch, including getting swept in a 3 game series by the same team they are now facing. Kay is a jerk.

Actually, he should just lose his job for being a suck baseball announcer, even before his stupid comment.

  4. Frank Russo

    Jack ass,

First off, my nane is not Francis, it’s Frank. And Kay has a right to his opinion. Worry about your own team moron. Last time I looked, they were sitting home or playing golf. Jealousy will get you nowhere.

  5. MVP

That’s not an opinion – that’s showing (1) a lack of baseball knowledge, and (2) class – always respect your opponent…then beat his brains out, But respect him…and I fear the Yanks are going to learn a lot of respect for the Rangers overs the next week.

  6. MVP

PS – the word “lack” is antecedent to both the clauses that follow it…

  7. donniem23

Michael Kay objective??? You have got to be kidding. He is a total “homer” with an ego that can barely be contained in the universe. Without Jim Kaat, the broadcasts have become almost unbearable with the kow-towing to Kay. The besthing about being a season ticket holder is that when I go to the games I don’t have to listen to the insufferable Mr. Kay. I’m with you on this one MVP.

  8. Docta Mark

    Hey Frank!

The Francis line was from Stripes, as in “lighten up Francis” you uptight Yankee Clunker. I know this is stressful time for you now.
It’s that pressure to win your 28th World Series. I know it’s tuf on
all you dismissive, elitist pompous Yankee fans this time of year.
You’re expected to win. How satisfying can that be? You root all
year and even if you win all you did was meet expectations. I’m
sure you were nice and giddy on FRI night, stealing another W.

I want you to enjoy this LCS. Really, have a laff riot over there.
You’re total lack of respect for me or anyone who doesn’t bow to the Yankee logo is ‘frankly’ sad, as are most hotheaded fans of a team that the rest of us love to hate. Don’t feel so alone Frank. I’d loved watching Bobby Cox exit in a Game 5 late-inning loss.
If the Phillies lose, I’ll really be overjoyed, whether it benefits the Yanks or not. But when your team loses, the world celebrates…

So it must be lonely in that cold, heartless Yankee Universe.

Sit, expect to win, that’s what’s your good at. And stay angry.
Maybe you’ll be too upset with me and all the meaningless Met
fans to enjoy it if you win or I should say ‘meet expectations’.

Now excuse while I make sure Lee’s hat is ready for Game 3.

    Hate the 28, MRF 10.18

  9. MVP

Docta – while I agree with you on Michael Kay, you are the one who operates from bitterness regarding the greatest franchise in sports history. Kay’s main talent for holding the Yankee announcing job is his willingness to suck Steinbrenner cock.

I personally think that the Rangers will win this series, because Lee is shutting the Yanks down as expected, and with AJ Burnout going in game 4 you can pretty much guarantee a 3-1 TX lead in the series. Yankee pitching is just not that good, especially for a short series. And Texeira needs to be moved out of the #3 spot; he hasn’t done shit for 2 post seasons now save for one home run last year.

  10. Frank Russo

    Hey Mark, you so-called Doctor,

First off, I don’t hate the Mets, I just detest Yankee Haters, which you are one of. Mike Silva is a Mets fan and happens to be a good friend of mine so it has nothing to do with the Mets or their fans, just you, you stupid putrid dumb-ass. Don’t put words in my mouth. I have respect for anyone who puts their time and effort into rooting for a team. It’s the Yankee Haters like you that I have a problem with.

Secondly, I’m not nervous or sweating anything. After all the eye surgeries I have been through over the past 3 years, the Yankees losing has a series doesn;t fuffle my feathers one bit. If you don;t believe that, then ask Mike, if you’ll actually listen.

Secondly, I am very fair when it comes to covering the Yankees, somthing you could bever be. You hate for the Yankees is born from jealousy because the team you root for has been largely inept.

Finally, I am neither dismissive, elitist or pompous. Like I said, you never met me, so your comments are moot. I’ve gotten more grief from Yankee fans because of my feelings on Joba than you could ever get from one of your stupid articles.

Also, it’s quite warm here in the Yankees Universe. I always enjoy my team, and nothing you or any Yankee hater says will ever effect me.

Non sei altro che un arrabbiato, geloso pezzo di merda, che non vale neanche il mio tempo. Che tu possa morire di mille morti e di essere sepolto in escrementi di pesci.

  11. Docta Mark

So the big brave Frank likes to insult me in Italian, eh? LOL…

In the spirit of perpetuating this, because peace is about as likely as a Fox 5-Cablevision resolution, I’ll start with the so-called doctor line, which goes the heart of your problem with me Frank.

My NY State license # is X-006595-1… and I’ve been practicing since ’91, so that’s 19 years of so-called doctoring behind me.
Along the way, I’ve added over 5,000 hours of continuing ed, some research awards and published a few peer-reviewed papers.
So you’re quack crap about chiropractic or anything I’ve shared with the NYBD audience is about as transparent as your Italian.

As far as making this phony distinction b/t Met fans and Yankee haters, I think you take things way to personally. I didn’t celebrate when Thurmon Munson died or Mickey dies after his liver transplant or when Cory Lidle crashed into a building during the ’06 playoffs. That’s not being a Yankee hater Frank. That’s
being an insensitive ass. I know you like to equate the two, but that’s because of you’re inability to tolerate any outsider negativity about that bunch of bully’s you root for. I can love the Mets, suffer through season after season, and still find time to hope the Yankees lose. It’s not one or the other Frank. I know their good. I know their always there. I just can’t stand the sight of them. OK? It’s really that simple. They’re baseball ugly to me.

I’m glad you get to be critical of the Yankees. I’m glad other Yankee fans give you grief for your feelings about Joba. But
why can’t a Yankee hater be fair? I can read a boxscore babe.
I can look at numbers. I just hate the results most of the time.
I can give the Yankees credit when it’s earned. Again, it’s through
clenched teeth, mostly because the chest-thumping fanbase is so
busy taking bows it’s not really up to me to validate their wins.

I’m sorry to hear about your eye surgeries and hope that chapter in your life is behind you. Having a 15-year old son with many health concerns I know how that road can give sports a different place in your life. That’s why I find your insults laughable. I just want your baseball team to lose and lose painfully. That’s all.

I don’t like you Frank. Not one bit. You’re unlikeable. But I do respect your opinions. I just don’t agree with them very often.
I think the feeling is mutual. But I’m a tolerant sape. I’ll live.

So just know the moment the sting of a Yankee defeat hits you, that in that exact moment a zing of eternal life rushes through us
out here. Call us haters, call us scumbags, attack me personally.
But know this. More people enjoy your team’s failures than their
successes. Why? It’s not the NY thing. It’s not the tradition thing.
It’s not the 27 rings thing either. It’s because of hotheads like you who want to fight to the death over some bully baseball team.

Namaste. Now please lose 2 more games & disappear, MRF 10.19

  12. Frank Russo

I’ll insult you, face to face, (God I hope so) or in any language I choose to.

Actually your wrong about the number of people who hate the Yankees, then again, your wrong about everything. The Yankees have the largest fan base in sports, bar none. That’s a fact.

BTW, I wasn’t talking about your credentialst. I know your a Doctor.

“I’m sorry to hear about your eye surgeries and hope that chapter in your life is behind you. Having a 15-year old son with many health concerns I know how that road can give sports a different place in your life.” Please. What a disingenuous , bunch of BS. Like you could really feel sorry for me, especially after what you then wrote next..”I don’t like you Frank. Not one bit. You’re unlikeable.”

Here’s the deal Mark, if you don’t like me, then don’t wish me well in regards to my eyes. I need none of your good will or platitudes. As far as your son goes, I hope all his problems are resolved and he lives a long and happy life. I lost both my sister and brother at early ages, so I only wish the best for him.

By the way, it doesn’t matter if my team loses, I am not going anywhere. I have been reporting on the Yankess on this website since 2008 and will continue to do so. Tough Luck. And frankly, I don’t care if you don’t like me. As long as Mike Silva and I are friends, that’s all that counts. To me, Yankee Haters are like a rabid animal, you can’t talk to them, you can’t reason with them, all you can do is shoot them” And how about you going away instead???

‘Pro Deus quod terra quod Yankees

  13. Docta Mark

    Ah Frank…

Now let me clarify my lack of like for you. You’re un-likeability isn’t a personal thing at all – like you’ve said, we don’t know each other.

What I don’t like about you is that you’re a damn hothead. I do like reading your articles here actually (they’re much quieter). But this need to fight me, shoot me, kill me…etc…what’s to like there?

I don’t agree with 99% of what Howard says and he’s a Met fan who has little love for the Bronx Bullies. So it’s not a team thing with you. I can disagree with his opinion (like Howard’s) and yet I do like him. He’s actually likeable. So let’s drop all that crap. No loss on either side there. You obviously can’t stand me one bit.

As far as insulting me to my face, dude…please don’t take this to your hothead but cut that crap out. If we ever do cross paths, I’ll just laugh. If you stay in character, it’ll end ugly for you. OK? :)

Now, back to your rejection of my sincere hope your health improves. Frank, I take care of people suffering from things I wouldn’t wish on Jeter’s family, so if I say I hope you get better it’s for real. Ask Mike if I’m bs-ing you. Again, tough to like you.

Finally, getting back to ur misperceptions. The Yankee fanbase is dwarfed by the number of people who root for two teams – their team and whoever plays the Yankees. So keep focusing on the part that works for you. Nationally, the Yankees are the enemy.

Thank for the best wishes for my son. He went to school today with a smile and his Met hat on…first thing he told the bus driver was “2 more Jose!”….so even if you kill me, the hate lives on!

I tell ya I’m kind of nervous…it’d suck to see the Yanks do one of those down 3-1, pie game in Game 5, win some 12-inning deal on FRI and get a 2-1 Rivera W on SAT, then sweep the WS…

So please, for all our sakes, lose 2 more, MRF 10.19

  14. Frank Russo

“If you stay in character, it’ll end ugly for you.” Wow. I guess you think you are really a badass. For me it’s nothing personal. You might be a good guy to have a drink with. I just don’t like snot nosed Yankee Haters. I am only a hot head when it comes to Yankee Haters. Also, I never get mad unless someone gets in my face, which you have. I would never kill you. Why waste perfectly good ammo.

My eyes are shot, and I am taking up far too much time firing back and forth with you over this crap. Hate all you want. I have to concentrate on other things now.

BTW, I think what Michaelk Kay said about the series being over was just stupid and dumb…period.

Pro Deus quod terra quod Yankees

  15. Stu B

I’d love to know if Kay thinks the series is over now, lol…

  16. Mike Silva

    Now Now children

Lets keep the venom towards Michael Kay, who might have just jinxed the Yankees 2010 postseason chances :)

  17. Docta Mark

    Frank -

Lemme get this flatter than your arguments…I got in your face? I guess it’s that kind of logic that keeps us on different planets…

You have this Pro Deus quod terra wtf and I have Earth…

I am a good guy to have a beer with (several actually) but something tells me this need you have to open a can a whipass every 5 seconds would ruin that idea. Let karma decide that one.

Been nice sparing with you here…I’ll try and get to the post-game chat room later…stop by and snipe in if u can…

And remember Frank, I’m a full-time Met fan, part-time Yankee hater…right now I’m ancy to get 3 outs in SF here so later…

    Respectful-Lee, MRF 10.19

  18. Frank Russo

Yes, you did get in my face when you called the show that night. I was there to talk Yankee playoff baseball, and you got in there to be a wise ass. Yeah I shouted you down, why the hell not.

And I don;t live on another planet or as you call it….You have this Pro Deus quod terra wtf. I live on the same planet as as you. It;s just that I don;t tolerate Yankee Hate speak. You have every right to sp[eak you anti Yankee logic, no doubt, but I have every right to draw a line in the sand and say, “enough is enough. And right now, enough is enough.

And Kay is coming across as a complete fool.

Pro Deus quod terra quod Yankees

  19. Docta Mark

    Gooooood Morning Frankie!

Again, you insist on making me the bad guy. I called the show that night as a bit on Mike’s prompting after you, the hothead,
ragged on something I wrote for NYBD about the Evil Empire…

And you not only overreacted, you lost your effin mind. I barely got to say a word and you were tearing up some ghost in your feverish mind about ESPN employees, people mocking Munson dying 30+ years ago and Lord knows what else…

Then you took a bow and trashed me 5 minutes after I hung up.
Ever since then you’ve been ripping me left and right and doing this endless soapbox about Yankee Haters being something south of an Ebola virus…whateva man…

Glad to have u back on Earth Frank….sleep well now. The inevitable comeback begins at 4:07pm WED…I dread it like I dread paying taxes…but those effin Yankees won’t die easy.

    7-2, 8-0, 10-3…been here before, don’t trust it one bit, MRF 10.20

  20. Frank Russo

I never knew you were coming on that night, and got Buffaloed by both you and Mike, If I had known that was going to happen I would never have come on.

That being said, my rant about Yankee Haters is mostly correct. You need to get your head out of your world and look at the things Yankee Haters say and do. I have a scar between my eyes from getting hit in the face by a pool cue toating Yankee Hater, who was celebrating Thurman’s death. I have even received death threat from Yankee Haters. Ask Mike about them. Sorry but I dont trust Yankee Haters. Never have, never will. You might be a nice guy outside the Yankee Hating world. We will just agree to disagree.

Oh yeah, another thing, it’s Frank not Frankie, and I have always lived on Earth. In fact I never left.

One last thing…If you actually think the Yankee are going to come back, then I want the same drugs that you’re useing. No way can they come back now that Teixeira is done. You should celebrate because they are toast.

Pro Deus quod terra quod Yankees!

  21. Docta Mark

    Mi Amigo Frankola -

I tried to post this earlier but the lords of cookies denied me…

This has dragged on long enough…You’re just another crazy Yankee fan with a traumatic past, having suffered through some abuse at the hands of some haters who are just out there to hate.

As a Met fan, I’ve had my share of this too. There was the great hat caper of 1988, when I had to sprint across a bar in STL and dive into a sea of angry Cardinal fans to get my Met hat back. I left with the hat and a lot of black and blues…but I’d do it again.

So enjoy Game 5, it’ll be a familiar feel for you…I’ll let Game 6 go to baseball gods…and just hope to avoid it. I’d love to put these vipers to bed this afternoon…and focus on football already.

In a buffalo stance, MRF 10.20

  22. The Butcher

    docta mark.

You are a doctor. Go save lives and stop wasting your time talking about how much you hate the Yankees. We all get it, we are the most hated team in sports. It just goes to show that there is a lot of jealous people in the world. What really bothers me though is that your teaching your son to hate! Way to keep the tradition going! I’m sure he’ll grow up into a pompous jackass doctor just like his old man.

  23. Docta Mark

    Hey another fan –

This is my week here! LOL… It’s funny how being a Met fan in OCT bothers the piss out of Yankee fans. Let me be clear –

WE’RE NOT JEALOUS OF U RAT BASTARDS…YOU’RE REPULSIVE!

Everything and everyone that’s connected to the Yankees seems to have this distorted perception that the rest of us resent you and want to be you. Sorry, but NO! We like being Met fans, RSN, etc…So quit telling us how to behave and just rub a monument or something. It’s like we’re all defective b/c we don’t drink your pinstripe Kool-Aid…And relax about what I teach my son dude.

He know Evil when he sees it…LMAO

And I did sign off on the whole Frank thing before the game. You’re the one who had to chastise me here. Enjoy the travel day…& the 36 hours of hype that’ll have you geeked for Game 6.

Now excuse me, I have a Phillies game to loathe, MRF 10.20

  24. Stu B

Personally, I’ve had more than enough of this stupid vendetta between these Russo and Doctor Mark characters…can you guys let it go and quit the bitching already? If not, can you do something about it Mike?
