Former Met Kazmir Dealt to Anaheim

By Mike Silva ~ August 28th, 2009. Filed under: Rumor Mill.

via MLB Trade Rumors:

It appears the Angels are close to acquiring former Mets pitcher Scott Kazmir for two prospects.

If Kazmir is healthy this could impact the Yankees. For his career Kazmir has a 2.53 ERA against the Yanks, although he has struggled at Yankee Stadium. Keeping the Red Sox in mind, Kazmir has always pitched well at Fenway Park. Both of these could have played a factor in the Angels decision to acquire Kazmir.

NYBD was told earlier this year that Kazmir was having problems with Tampa pitching coach Jim Hickey. Ironically, he went to Rick Peterson for help this summer.

I wonder if this move was to save money and prevent Tampa from having to trade Carl Crawford, or, a prelude to another trade for the stretch drive.
