Watch Shane Victorino’s Beer Shower

In case you haven’t seen it, watch the video below to see Shane Victorino get doused at Wrigley Field last night while trying to make a catch. I read some outcry over at Twitter from the Philadelphia contingency about how the Cubs fans showed a lack of class. I agree, but that is the “pot calling the kettle black” for lack of a better word. I am sure there isn’t any video of this, but I remember the same thing happening to Lenny Dykstra in 1988. Actually, it was when the Mets played the first ever night game at Wrigley Field that August. My point is that this isn’t anything new from the Wrigley faithful. If you remember, Victorino was elected into the Metstradamus Hall of Hate back in late July. You can listen to John “Metstradamus” Coppinger talk about the induction on my show (last 15 minutes). For those unfamiliar with the Hall of Hate, it’s done tastefully by John and no malice is intended. These days there are certain groups that look to twist the intentions of this site for their own agenda so I have to preface just about any type of dry humor.

Passing thought: Glad to see Pedro Martinez back on the mound. I have nothing against him and wish him the best. It looks like, based on yesterday’s performance, he still is very hittable. Pedro may not have lived up to his Mets contract because of injury, but I still think he was a huge reason for a change in attitude around the big league club. Unfortunately front office politics and blunders may now symbolize that era. Good luck Pedro.
