100 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in US

By Mike Silva ~ February 19th, 2009. Filed under: Mike Silva.

Update 3:00 PM – Here is the link that I forgot to post originally. Thank you to the readers for a heads up.

Talkers Magazine ranked the most influential talk show hosts in the country. Here are some of the rankings that I thought the local fans would be interested in:

40 – WFAN’s Boomer and Carton
45 – ESPN’s Mike and Mike
58 – Mike Francesa

Those who were honorable mention:

Sid Rosenberg – WAXY Miami
Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts – WFAN
Steve Somers – WFAN

I think the key takeaway is the rise of Boomer and Carton. Those that read the site know that Carton is not my favorite host, but you need to give credit where it’s due. The chemistry between him and Boomer is better then ever. Also, they have an excellent guest lineup. The best part is you are actually getting some fresh faces coming on the air. I still think Carton can get childish with the humor, but he seems to be doing better working it into the show. The sports trivia with the housewife is interesting as well. You have to admit they are actually outworking, and outperforming, Mike Francesa on a daily basis. Neil Best actually was right when he came on my show and told me that the morning show isn’t as bad as I might be making it out to be.
