Report: Yankees Shopping Nady

By Frank Russo ~ December 28th, 2008. Filed under: Digest Contributors.

Our source down in Tampa have informed us that the Yankees are actively shopping Xavier Nady. Brian Cashman has apparently contacted the Cincinnati Reds about the availability of both Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang. The Reds have been hesitant to include either pitcher in a package for Nady, especially since the “X-Man” will become a free agent after the 2009 season. The Yankees are now in the enviable position of having a glut of outfielders, with Nady, Swisher, Matsui, Damon, Brett Gardner and Melky Cabrera all in the mix for outfield playing time at the moment. Of this group, Yankees management feel that Damon, due to his leadoff capabilities, and Swisher, due to his versatility, are the most valuable to the team as currently constituted.

One interesting rumor being floated at the moment has Matsui heading to Seattle in a package for Jared Washburn. Ryan Rowland-Smith is also a pitcher that the Yankees have had interest in as well. With the chances of Andy Pettite returning becoming less and less likely by the day, Yankees management apparently is turning their attention to the trade market to obtain another starting pitcher.

As far as the Pettite situation goes, the Yankees are convinced that the main stumbling block is Andy’s agents, the Hendrick’s Brothers. The “Damning Duo” from Texas are holding firm on their demands for a multi year deal for their client, and are steadfastly against the 1 year, $10 million offer that Brian Cashman has offered. With Brad Penny about to sign a contract with the “Angry Red Menace,” the Dodgers could conceivably become a player again in the “Pettite Sweepstakes.” Our main source in Tampa informed us that there is only about a 30% chance that Pettite will resign with the Yankees at this time. Along with the Dodgers, two other possible destinations for “Dandy Andy” could be the home state Texas Rangers, and possibly, the Braves, who are desperate for starting pitching.

You might take Bronson Arroyo in person but he will always be a red sox at heart. You can’t take THAT YOU TROLLS.

Seriously. Why do you go after all ex red sox players. I get some of them but kevin Cash? Why not go get Ted Williams without his head from the grave? You make no sense.

Not you blog writer but your team.
