1969 Mets vs. 1978 Yankees “What If”

Tomorrow night we will have a different type of NY Baseball Digest radio show. We will be previewing the latest “what if” simulation match up. Since neither New York team had post-season baseball, we are bringing the World Series to us. If you remember we also replayed the 1986 Mets vs. 1998 Yankees.

After each World Series game we will post the results of our “Sim-Series” the following morning. It all starts with Game 1 on Wednesday.

We will talk more about this tomorrow, but I wanted to poll the audience and see what your thoughts would be on this series. Cast your vote below. But, before you do that, here are some details that may help you with your analysis:

Pitching Matchups

Gm 1  Seaver vs. Guidry

Gm 2  Koosman vs. Figueroa

Gm 3  Hunter vs. Gentry

Gm 4  Guidry vs. Seaver

Gm 5  Beattie vs. TBA

Gm 6  Koosman vs. Figueroa

Gm 7  Seaver vs. Guidry

Notes: I awarded the Yankees home field since they were the team that repeated as champions. I thought the 1/2 game difference was a cheap way to lose home field advantage.
