Deadline Over! Lets Recap

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

The deadline has come and gone and no significant moves were made by the Mets. The Yanks failed to acquire the starting pitcher they need. Can’t blame either team for passing on the exorbitant prices that were being asked for players like Ibanez, Washburn, and Jason Bay. Howard Megdal of the NY Observer and I [...]

Mets may turn to Luis Ayala

By Joey DeMayo Speaking to my source, it seems the asking price for the top flight relievers like JJ Putz is crazy. Minaya reportedly may be working on a deal to bring Luis Ayala to the Mets . Stay tuned

Mid-Day Update

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

By: Joey DeMayo Although it is a little past mid-day, thought I’d give an update. Mets have essentially told Seattle in regards to Raul Ibanez: let us know if the price comes down. It doesn’t appear that is happening. Omar Minaya appears to have no interest in the other outfielders available. The bullpen is now [...]

Adam Dunn Buzz

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

By: Joey DeMayo Speaking to a source, the Mets remain uninterested in Adam Dunn . It appears though, that Tampa Bay has backed off of Jason Bay , and have decided to make a run at Dunn before the 4 PM deadline. No word on pieces that may go back, but a source tells me, “Tampa [...]

Mets Update

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

When people say July 31st is a crazy day, that is an understatement . Latest I got is the Mets have set their focus as far as bullpen arms go on either Seattle’s JJ Putz or San Diego’s Cla Meredith . No update as of now on the Raul Ibanez situation, I presume price hasn’t [...]

Manny Ramirez Update

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

By: Joey DeMayo Spoke to my source, and it appears the Manny Ramirez three team trade is looking less and less likely to go down. The Pirates are insisting that outfield prospect Mike Stanton be involved, but the Marlins are reportedly “not trading him, especially in this kind of deal”. Stay tuned.

BBTF On Everett Piece

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

The guys at Baseball Think Factory usually love my ideas about as much as Democrats enjoy a George Bush State of the Union, but I think the debate on my Everett article was fair and logical. You can check out the reaction at BBTF HERE. Now in case you don’t remember the stir I caused [...]

Rumor Mill Update: Washburn to Yankees dead ?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

By: Joey DeMayo According to a league source, the Jarrod Washburn -to-the Yankees trade discussions have “practically died”. There is always the small chance it is rekindled, but Seattle has not budged from it’s Brett Gardner type prospect and Yankees eat all the money coming to Washburn. Brian Cashman is not willing to do this. [...]
